What is the theme for World Food Day 2020?

This years World Food Day marks the 75th Anniversary of the founding of FAO, with a view to looking towards the future we need to build together and the theme “Grow, nourish, sustain. Together. Our actions are our future.” 


Who started World Food Day?

FAO's World Food Day (WFD) was established by FAO's Member Countries at the Organization's 20th General Conference in November 1979.

 

Why is World Food Day celebrated?

The United Nation Organisation's Food and Agriculture Association (FAO) was established on 16th October in 1945. To commemorate this day, World Food Day is celebrated every year with a new theme. The objective is to create awareness about the existing problems of obesity and malnutrition due to hunger.

 

What can we do on World Food Day?

One of the best ways to celebrate World Food Day is by giving food to people who need it the most. If you do a quick search online, you should be able to find the nearest food bank to you. Most food banks are going to accept food or money.

 

What is meant by Zero Hunger?

The Zero hunger vision reflects five elements from within the Sustainable Development goals, which taken together, can end hunger, eliminate all forms of malnutrition, and build inclusive and sustainable food systems. The challenge of Zero Hunger means: All Food Systems are Sustainable: From Production to Consumption.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. FSSAI is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety.
